About
Located on the North Shore in Nassau County, Manhasset is ideally situated just 20 miles from Manhattan, and 50 miles from Long Island’s famous world-class Hamptons beaches. 
Home to just over 8,000 people, Manhasset takes its name from a Native American term meaning “island neighborhood.”

History
19th century Manhasset was a farming community, but in the 1920s, a few pioneering commuters from the New York City began transforming the lowland rural community into a highland commuter town. Slowly, a commercial district developed along Plandome Road, and eventually, around Northern Boulevard, the current location for high-end stores at the open-air mall, the Americana Manhasset. By the mid-20th century, Manhasset was a growing community, with ample commerce, ideal access to Manhattan by car or by rail on the Long Island Railroad, and close to Long Island’s North Shore.

Today, Manhasset is well-known for its concentration of distinct local merchants and high-end premium shops. As friendly local shopkeepers beckon visitors with unique products and personalized service along Plandome Road, shoppers enjoy strolling through the town. A short drive away, Northern Boulevard's Americana Manhasset offers open-air, world-class shopping.

The Americana is home to such luxurious boutiques such as Ralph Lauren, Williams-Sonoma, Brooks Brothers, Oilily, Prada, Giorgio Armani , Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Burberry, among others.
